The Fox River Trail (FRT) was built on the north shore of Lake George, south of the city of Gary, Indiana. As the name suggests, the Lake George Trail runs along the east side of North Judson Lake to the west side and then along and around the south shore, then turns south and bypasses the east shore of Wolf Lake. It stretches for nine miles from downtown North Judson southeast along US-35 to Bass Lake and covers an area of about 1,000 acres in the heart of downtown Gary. Jasper is one of our top 21 activities in Northwest Indiana, along with Fort Wayne, Bloomington, Indianapolis and Indianapolis.
In 1999, the company acquired Empress Casinos, which included the Horseshoe Casino Hammond in Hammond and the Joliet Casino and Hotel in Hammond. The Hammond estate was branded the "Horsshoe Casino Hammond" until it was sold in 2001 for $1.5 billion to J.P. Morgan Company, a subsidiary of JPMorgan Chase & Co., and subsequently to a joint venture between the two companies.
